Daring Enterprise
Daring Enterprise is about helping pastoralists in northern Kenya establish alternative sources of income to supplement their livelihood from livestock.
Target Group
The groups we are targetting are pastoralists in northern Kenya, specifically groups or individuals within groups. The groups are chosen on the basis of their ideas and commitment, not on their level of business experience. We also require that any group we work with undertakes some form of development within the wider community as a result of their enterprise.
Objectives
To help pastoralists develop businesses and business skills that can supplement their traditional livelihood. With additional forms of income they are better able to withstand the droughts, floods and livestock diseases that are so debilitating to the people of northern Kenya. There is also not enough land for all the children to have a successful future as pastoralists so bringing new skills and opportunities to the communities provides their children with prospects in the local area and reduces the migration to city slums. Our aim is to support 30 separate community enterprise groups in Isiolo district with future expansion into Samburu and Laikipia districts.
Methods
The core of our support to these groups is the enterprise resource centre which provides offices facilities and basic secretarial support. This centre also provides access to a wide range of education, information and business support materials. The centre is a location for peer to peer training sessions where groups with different experiences can inform and educate each other. We also provide training tailored to each group’s individual needs both at their location and in the centre. Finally we hope to find mentors for the enterprises from other parts of Kenya and further afield. People with knowledge and experience in their specific industry who will form a close relationship with the groups and help them develop over a number of years.
What We Need
Mentors. Trainers in a range of enterprise skills. Funding assistance for the enterprise resource centre, including secretarial support staff and office supplies. Educational materials relating to enterprise.

Daring Football
Daring Football is all about encouraging young people from the streets and deprived backgrounds to play football rather than get involved with drugs or criminal activities.
The passion that the local kids in Isiolo have for football is incredible. They all fervently support either Arsenal or Manchester United. The difference being part of a team and regularly taking part in sporting activites can make to the very poor, homeless and otherwise disadvantaged kids is amazing
