Daring Football
Daring football is all about encouraging young people from the streets and deprived backgrounds to play football rather than take drugs and get into trouble.
Target Group
Children and young people who are homeless as well as those that come from poor, deprived or abusive backgrounds. Those that are most at risk of becoming involved in drug taking, gang membership and violent or criminal activities.
Objectives
To give young people a positive way to spend their time. To help them avoid the common activities of kids in this target group; drug addition, gangs and crime. To help them gain a sense of purpose and team sprit. Help them feel that they belong to something worthwhile and encourage behaviour and actions that will help them to become successful adults.
Methods
Supporting young people to form and maintain football teams. We provide football kit and team membership cards. We also organise regular tournaments for the teams to play in to encourage commitment. Most of the young people here play barefoot on stony pitches. By providing them with a football strip and shoes they gain an important sense of pride and practically it improves their game. Most football is played with balls made of plastic bags tied with string. By providing footballs we help them quickly improve their skills and consequently their self esteem. The membership cards give them a tangible sense of belonging, particularly important for the street kids or those with limited home life. Tournaments give them the opportunity to express all of this. They provide a purpose for the training and the commitment as well as an opportunity to witness the benefits of all their hard work. Most of all they are good fun and a highlight that the all the kids look forward to.
What We Need
Football kit including boots, new or second hand. Footballs. Support to get the kit to Kenya and funding for the tournaments and management of the program and its expansion to urban centres throughout Kenya.

The passion that the local kids in Isiolo have for football is incredible. They all fervently support either Arsenal or Manchester United. The difference being part of a team and regularly taking part in sporting activites can make to the very poor, homeless and otherwise disadvantaged kids is amazing
Daring Enterprise
Daring Enterprise is about helping pastoralists in northern Kenya establish alternative sources of income to supplement their livelihood from livestock.
With additional sources of income the local pastoralst communities are better able to withstand the droughts, floods and livestock diseases that are so debilitating to the people of this harsh region.
